Women of the ELCA

We are an active group of women at St. Mark's. As WELCA members we strive to:

Grow in Faith

We continue to grow our faith through Bible Studies at one of our four circle gatherings. A “circle” is always inclusive and can expand to meet the needs of the group. Circle meetings include devotionals and guest speakers from local ministries.

Here at St. Mark's, our WELCA circles meet on the second Tuesday or third Wednesday with brunch in a members home.

We also grow in faith through our annual special events such as our spring retreat, summer picnic, and Christmas dinner.

Engage in Ministry and Action

We put our faith into action through visits to our homebound and hospitalized, packaging school kits for underprivileged children, alter flower ministry, expressions of birthday wishes, wellness, sympathy, and monthly quilting for “Piecemakers” to support Lutheran World Relief.

Affirm Our Gifts

We help the less fortunate by raising money at our events such as the Ash Wednesday breakfast, Mother-Child brunch, Mother's Day Weekend luncheon/banquet, and the thank-offering service each November.

Money raised at our events and donations go to organizations such as Magdalene St. Louis, American Leprosy Mission, Safe Connections, Humanitri, Little Bit of Haven, Lutheran World Relief, Peregrine Society, and the ELCA Malaria fund and Walk for Water.

Our goal is to promote healing and wholeness in the church, our community, and the world. We invite you to join us!
